If you want a spam blocker (and who
doesn’t these days?) and you want an easy, straightforward and
uncomplicated installation that works with any
standard POP3 email program such as Outlook, Outlook Express,
Eudora and Netscape Messenger, but not AOL, then
this is the program for you.
Basically you install the program and
follow the wizard (oh so easy), you can import your address
book from your current email client which becomes your
‘approved’ list. Set the options (my granny could do it) and
you’re off!!
The program works by allowing approved
email through and anything else is put in a ‘Pending’ tray.
Senders of the pending emails are sent a message explaining
that you are protected by spamBat and all they have to do is
follow a simple instruction to be approved. The idea is that
spammers hide their real email address and use autosenders
anyway so no approval will happen. Alternatively you can
monitor each email manually and either approve or ban it. You
can also view and log activity and see a graph of your
approvals, bans and pending.
I have used this for a week now and the
reduction in spam is substantial and improving daily. This is
highly recommended and well worth the money.
